Angela and Brent are both water lovers — so finding a wedding venue on the river was never going to be negotiable. What they didn’t expect was to find a venue whose address felt like a sign. Brent’s favourite number is 11, Angela’s is 8 — and Ancora sits at 118 Wharf Street. Meant to be doesn’t quite cover it. Their simple, timeless celebration leaned into everything Ancora does best: the indoor-outdoor flow, the fairy lights under the trees, the balcony over the river, and food so generous that not a single guest left hungry. Why The Ancora ~

“We fell in love with the location on the river because we both love the water. Ancora has a minimalist vibe that felt super light and fresh. The space spoke for itself and it didn’t feel like we needed to add much to make it special. Brent used to holiday in Tweed as a kid so that felt meaningful. Also the address 118 Wharf Street felt like it was meant to be because Brent’s favourite number is 11 and mine is 8.”

The Best Part ~

“We absolutely loved everything about our reception at Ancora! We could not fault a single thing if we tried! Our favourite thing would probably be the indoor/outdoor flow of Ancora. It was so nice for our guests to be able to get fresh air on the balcony over the river. It also meant there were so many beautiful photo spots on site – our favourite was the fairy lights under the tree at night!”

Favourite Thing on The Menu ~

“We went with the Mexican option which was honestly amazing! We got so many compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was and that there was SO MUCH FOOD!!! Our biggest pet peeve at weddings is leaving feeling hungry and I’m so glad our guests felt the exact opposite!”

A Special Moment ~

“There was one moment where we took a break from the dance floor to get some gelato and we both stood on the balcony looking in at all our guests. Everyone was having the best time, the venue looked so stunning and we both felt so happy and in disbelief that this was our wedding! It was so special to take it all in together!”
