Isabelle + Curtis celebrated their wedding waterside with us at Ancora. Their coastal chic celebration combined soft whites, dreamy blues, and minimal, intentional decor, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated day perfectly suited to their style. Read on to hear more the couple on their dream day.

The Wedding Style ~

“Coastal chic. We wanted the day to feel light, fresh, and timeless. Soft whites, dreamy blues, and the sparkle of the water as our backdrop with notes of pearl details. But also relaxed and true to our love for the water. The decor was minimal but intentional, focusing on natural textures and a soft colour palette that complemented the stunning view from the pier. It felt completely us. It all came together to create a look that was sophisticated yet relaxed.”

Why Ancora ~

“We chose Ancora because we fell in love with the venue’s unique character. The pier setting was exactly what we were looking for. It offered the best of both worlds: a beautiful, serene backdrop for our ceremony and a spacious, elegant area for the reception. The seamless transition between the two was a huge selling point, making the entire day feel cohesive and effortless. It just felt like us.”

Favourite Part ~

“The golden hour light over the water during our reception was breathtaking. It felt like the whole venue was wrapped in this warm, romantic glow, and we were able to soak in the moment with all our favourite people around us. Our photos from that time perfectly capture that feeling, the vibrant blues of the water contrasting with the warm light on the deck. It was truly magical. My favourite part was a perfect three-act day: it started with the ceremony, the most beautiful moment of walking down the aisle with the stunning water view all around us. Then, we moved into a delicious dinner where we could relax and soak in the celebration. And finally, the night ended on a high note with everyone on the dance floor, taking turns with the disco helmets and just letting loose. It was the perfect flow of love, laughter, and pure fun.”

Fave Thing on the Menu ~

“The beef cheeks were unforgettable! Rich, tender, and bursting with flavour. We had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding meal they’d ever had! We also loved the canapés, which were a beautiful start to the celebration and kept everyone happy while we were having our photos taken.”

A Special Moment ~

Izzy: “Right after the ceremony, we snuck away for a few quiet minutes on the back lawn together. We could hear the soft chatter of our guests behind us, feel the sea breeze, and breathe each other in. It was such a grounding, beautiful moment in the middle of such an exciting day, and it’s a memory we’ll treasure forever. We were also lucky enough to have some stunning photos taken during this time, capturing a truly intimate moment between us.”

Curtis: “A special moment I’ll never forget was during our first dance. As we were dancing, I looked around the room and saw all of our family and friends smiling and singing along. In that moment, it wasn’t just about us; it was about all the love and support that had brought us to that point. It was a beautiful, overwhelming feeling of gratitude that I’ll cherish forever.”

“We were so thoughtful about every detail to make sure the day felt uniquely ours. Our flowers were a key element, thanks to Marisha from Magnolia Studios, with the delicate white and pale blue blooms perfectly complementing the ocean backdrop. For the music, we had Dan McGill, the party liaison DJ, who not only set the perfect tone for our ceremony but also brought the party to our reception! The night ended with a lively dance floor, complete with fun touches like heart-shaped sunglasses and disco helmets, which were a massive hit with our guests. Our day would not have been captured without the skills of Lauren and her team. She was so easy to work with and made us feel at ease. Lauren truly made our day something to remember. Everything came together so naturally, it truly felt like our dream day come to life.”
