Mel + Nick ~ Real Wedding

Mel + Nick – When it comes to luxe, show stopping weddings, we just couldn’t go past this waterside wedding. A wedding day story, so obviously wild with joy from start to finish. Starting the day at one of our fave Tweed accommodation spots, ringing the bell and saying “I do” at the Tweed River Chapel, before making their way to Ancora for the party.

Our beautiful bride Mel shares a little about her dream day.

THE WEDDING STYLE ~

Our Wedding style was simple and classic. We choose venues that were already so beautiful that they didn’t need heaps of florals and added décor.

WHY CHOOSE ANCORA ~

I spent a lot of time in Coolangatta and Tweed Heads as a child, so when we started looking at wedding venues it felt like the perfect destination.

THE BEST PART ~

The venue is so open, light and airy. The three long tables suited our less traditional wedding vibe. We were able to sit amongst our bridal party and their partners which was lovely. We really loved the share food – being able to choose bits and pieces of everything rather than stuck fighting over the steak. Both Nick and I, also loved that were was so many different spaces to spend time after the speeches – the dancefloor, whiskey bar / outdoor couches, the deck. We loved having cocktails while watching a beautiful pink sunset on the river and the outdoor whiskey bar. We also loved that we had exclusive use of the whole venue, for our own private celebration.

FAVOURITE THING ON THE MENU ~

We chose the shared menu – Our favourites were the pork belly and the haloumi.

SPECIAL MOMENT ~

My husband and I shared a very special moment during our first dance. We turned around and saw all our friends and family celebrating us. We were overwhelmed with love. It was the only time during the whole day we had to ourselves, and it was special. I would recommend to all couples take those 3 minutes to really take it all in together.
