Over the years, I’ve seen so many beautiful ceremonies, before the party joins us at Ancora: from a riverside chapel, to natural parklands, to beachfront cliffs and locations you can only reach by boat, here’s are my 9 top ceremony spots near Ancora Weddings.
MARINA PARK ~
Wharf St, Tweed Heads (right next door to Ancora)
The most convenient option on this list, and honestly, one of the most beautiful. Marina Park sits directly adjacent to Ancora, right on the banks of the Terranora Inlet, with two river fig trees that frame the ceremony arbour.
We offer a ceremony package that includes the arbour, bentwood chairs and full setup, so you and your guests can be at the party faster than you think. It’s the kind of ceremony spot that feels effortless and looks incredible in photos.

LOVERS ROCK PARK ~
Coral St, Tweed Heads (5 minutes from Ancora)
One of the most popular ceremony spots near Ancora. If there’s a more serendipitously named spot for a wedding ceremony on the Tweed Coast, we haven’t found it. Along with it’s perfect name, Lovers Rock Park offers the most magical Pacific Ocean backdrop with a hilltop view, featuring iconic pandanus trees and picturesque rocks on the cliff face. This natural beauty doubles as a wedding ceremony spot and also your bridal party photos location. This is a Tweed Shire Council-managed park, so you’ll need to book ahead. DREAMTIME BEACH, FINGAL HEAD ~
Fingal Head (15 minutes from Ancora)
White sand, volcanic rock, a lighthouse poking up through coastal rainforest and Cook Island sitting out in the blue, Dreamtime Beach at Fingal Head is a proper wow moment.
Tucked in on the southern side of the Fingal Headland, the beach sits next to the Fingal Head Lighthouse walking track, with ancient basalt rock formations and panoramic views over Cook Island and out to sea. It’s naturally sheltered from northerly winds, golden in afternoon light and feels genuinely off the beaten track, even though it’s only 15 minutes from Ancora.
OLD BOAT HARBOUR PARK ~
Fingal Rd, Fingal Heads (15 minutes from Ancora)
Another beautiful waterfront ceremony option for you is Old Boat Harbour Park on the other side of the Tweed River. This open, easily accessible, grassed area right on the water has a beautiful outlook, with leafy trees and the perfect clearing for your arbour. TWEED RIVER CHAPEL ~
122 – 124 Riverside Drive, Tumbulgum (25 minutes from Ancora)
A wedding ceremony spot that is a little more traditional, the Tweed River Chapel is a quaint wedding chapel with white picket fences, scenic rural surrounds and a romantic vibe. Just a 25 minute drive from us, the Chapel has a sweet tradition that the Bride should ring the big bell outside twice when she arrives. This signifies two becoming one. TWEED COAST BEACHES ~
From Snapper Rocks to Rainbow Bay, Cabarita Beach to Kingscliff, the Tweed Coast does not run short on beach options. If sand between your toes is non-negotiable, you’re in the right part of Australia.
One thing worth knowing: winter is actually the prime time for a beach ceremony up here. Balmy daytime temperatures, low rainfall and beautiful light make June through August a sweet spot that catches a lot of couples off guard.
You don’t need to book a beach, but you do need to think through logistics: shade, chairs, wind direction and noise.
KIRRA HILL COMMUNITY CENTRE ~
Garrick St, Coolangatta, QLD (6 minutes from Ancora)
Kirra Hill isn’t just an indoor option, it’s a clifftop venue with some of the most expansive ocean views on the Gold Coast. The grassed headland lawn is where the real magic happens, overlooking the Kirra surf break and the coastline stretching north. At the right time of year, you might spot whales from your altar.
The community centre building with its hardwood floors and high ceilings works brilliantly as a covered backup or for more intimate ceremonies, but don’t overlook the outdoor space, it’s genuinely spectacular.
It’s a City of Gold Coast-managed venue, so bookings go through Council. Just 6 minutes from Ancora over the border. You will need to consider the one hour time difference during daylight savings time for this one. This can be tricky, but your planner will help ensure your timeline is correct.
THE PINK HOTEL ~
Griffith St, Coolangatta
For something that still includes gorgeous water views but has a bit of a different vibe, retro 60’s themed hotel The Pink Hotel is the place. The ceremony’s are held on their stunning rooftop overlooking Coolangatta Beach. It’s the perfect ceremony location for those wanting the security of a fixed venue, but still get those, open in nature vibes. Plus, if pink is your colour it’s good news for your bridal portraits! You will need to have met the minimum accommodation booking at the hotel in order to access this space for your ceremony. Whether it’s a wet weather option or your first choice, there’s a couple of options for an indoor ceremony at Ancora. We can host intimate ceremonies out on the deck area like Chloe + Gavin or inside the actual reception space orientating one of two ways. Do I need to book a ceremony spot separately from my Ancora wedding reception? Yes, for all off-site locations (Marina Park, Lovers Rock, Old Boat Harbour, Kirra Hill etc.) you’ll need to arrange the booking independently. However, our package includes furniture and setup at Marina Park. The exception is if you’re having your ceremony inside Ancora itself, no additional booking is require, we coordinate as part of your package. Our team is happy to point you in the right direction for any of the locations listed above.
How far in advance do I need to book a ceremony spot near Tweed Heads? For council-managed parks like Marina Park and Lovers Rock, bookings can be made through Tweed Shire Council and typically require at least a few months’ notice for popular dates. The Tweed River Chapel and any venue with its own coordinator will also fill up fast on weekends, so the sooner the better.
Can I have my ceremony and reception both at Ancora Weddings? Yes.
